The Doctor is In, our recommendations for 'non-fiction sites'

--The best place to start if you need to completely immerse yourself in fanfiction.

 Chronicle X Lite

The former big mamma. Now swelte and slim. Down to a good authors listing, archive listing, Lost and Found for finding that lost fic, and In Press for WIPs.

The Haven: This fabulous one stop shopping will be broken up any day now. What's New, a daily update of all the important current fics, photos, spoilers, etc, can be found here now.

Ephemeral: Current postings to AXTC are shuttled over here, where they ride until Gossamer updates. Most people do their reading here rather than the newsgroup, since it's nothing but the fic. Handy reccing system in place on site.

The X-Files Fan Fiction Addiction: Fun and comprehensive. Tons of links, author's interviews, and of course, fic.

The Annex: Got some time on your hands? The place to find novel length stories with bookcovers.

Future X-plorations: This site makes things easy. An archive of post-episode fic.

X-Files Fanfiction Links: Huge listings of archives, author's sites and all sites X. Not updated often, so it may not be current.

The Spooky Awards Site: Fiction submitted to axtc are eligible for the yearly award ceremony, voted on by readers. A number of categories to cover many tastes. Read past years' recepients, or look at the requirements to see about submitting your own stories to 2001's contest. A great place to read the archived stories that have already accumulated.

Now that you've written that masterpiece, what do you do with it? Post it on a mailing list, of course! Want to waste hours of your day ranting and raving about fic? Go to a message board!

Xemplary: Home of the XF Creative Mailing List. Warning: website can make older browsers have a fit. Go to the mirror site in that case.

Chaos Mailing Lists: Quite a few XF lists here.

AXTC: Post through deja to the Usenet newsgroup. Sign up for alt.tv.x-files.creative This is the largest mass of people reading XF fanfiction and the only way to get your stories on Ephemeral. I beg of you, read the FAQ first. A lot of good info about formatting here.

X-Files Fanfiction: Another huge mailing list. Very good FAQs on site as well.

The Haven Fanfic Message Board: Daily, endless chatter about fanfic. Recs and tons of enthusiasm, again, with a MSR edge. Most of the crowd has moved over to EXpressIt. Many other boards there to fight with any number of complete strangers about a TV show.

Heathers SmutLust: Yes, you read that right. Have some...baser needs? Head over to Smut 2K immediately for quality M/S only erotica.

The old XAPEN mailing list was taken down by CiCi Lean and replaced with PhoeniXFic. It still upholds the ideals of the original group and has the Feedback Friday.

A new list has formed for discussion of webpage building and graphics. If you're interested in this sort of pursuit, someone can help you out. Xdesign at e-groups.
Xdesign

The list has a resource website. If you like looking at purty pictures, or want to make purty pictures, give it a peek.

Besides being an interesting read, reviews really can help flesh out the details of an episode or spark story ideas.

X-Review : has tons of reviews. Extremely comprehensive, with a wide range of viewpoints. Unfortunately, it hasn't been updated since early this year. Bummer.

Autumn Tysko's Reviews: Or go right to the most highly read reviews. Fun, with a Scullycentric slant. Autumn is as obsessed with Scully wearing a black push-up bra to bed as we are.

After you've signed up for axtc, go sign up for alt.tv.x-files.analysis while you're at it. Generally, the behavior is adult and lots of deep discussion of episodes and XF themes.

There are some incredible Philes who take their love of fanfiction and devote their spare time to reading tons of current fic to be able to put up regular updates for your reading pleasure.

Visions of Truth: Absolutely gorgeous site put up by Galia. Has a MSR bend, but she loves a long, intense angsty WIP too. Her enthusiasm for fic shows up on her beautiful site.

Clinique's World of Chaos: Kimberly took us all under her wing when we appeared on the scene. How can we not love this wonderful, generous woman? She tries to spotlight some lesser known and newer writers, go dig around on her site. Her site has been recently refurbished and includes some cool new features. A great place to explore.

A Quiet Place for Reading: Regular updates from Kelly. She has great taste and highlights some lesser known writers.

Daydream Believer's House of Dreams: Just found this archive when she asked to archive one of our works. LOL! I was immediately struck by the beautiful site, the simple layout and quality readin'!

X-plicit Disclosures: Rae does an fanfic archive, but also much more! One of those fun places to wander and around and see what you can discover.

One in Five Billion: Regularly updated listing of MSR fanfiction, with extensive reviews of stories. Always nice to hear *why* someone is reccing a fic.

The Primal Screamers: After some time away due to RL, they're bbbaaacckk! With weekly updates of their favorite stories.

Prometheus 1013
Prometheus1013 is a new archive with an interactive element. You can rec and submit stories yourself. You can also fine tune your search to specific classifications beyond smut or no smut.

IIf you don't want to get nasty feedback letters pointing out that Bill Mulder actually lived in West Tisbury, not East, do your research!

Deep Background
Deep Background: THE place to find out all the little XF details.

For all the medical and scientific research on your next casefile, head to Ask Dr. Scully. Exhaustive.
Ask Dr. Scully

Tiny Dancer's Transcripts: Constantly stalked by Fox, but never bowed, go here to find all the current transcripts of past episodes. Also does spoilers.

 X-files Timeline

The Timeline: From about 9am on Sunday, the current episode is fit into the XF universe timeline with a blow by blow of action. Great site when you're trying to figure out how all the pieces of the mytharc puzzle fit together. The answer? They don't.

A Guide to Abbreviations for Fanfic Posting: Is a complete listing to cover all possibilities.

The Underpants Archive: I think the name says it all, eh? And Aly's got some fresh insanity including Doggett in the mix! Tasty!
Underpants!

Plop!

A new archive with a twist. Tre provides her own original artwork for every story chosen by her and Kel. A visual and reading treat.

The Relationship Guide to the X-Files: Kipler's *snort* inducing capsule summaries of the shipper highlights of episodes. New favorite from Amor Fati--"She cups his face in her hands and gazes tenderly at him. She loves him so much at this moment that
it hurts! But she has to leave because Mulder's just had brain surgery and all, so she drags her fingers down to feel, for the first time, the lush, ripe perfection of his lips." Oh, yeah, baby!

X-Files Institution for Relationshippers: Another giggle a minute tribute to The Ship. Always wonderfully updated by the evening of the current episode. Hasn't been updated since last year, but has there been any romantic moments lately?

The Ship of Dreams: This fun Scullycentric site has a little bit of everything, mostly *snorts*

Gizzie: The one and only. Until you've read a gizzified episode review, you've never truly laughed. Also has the original definations of 'squidge' and 'schmoopy' handy.
